Assessment of qualification – results

Below you can find the results of the assessment of qualification relative to the first call 2024. Candidates on the list have been invited to the oral examination; if you are not on the list, it means that your qualifications have not been considered sufficient. Please notice that results corresponding to the different curricula are uploaded as they become available.

Remember you need to bring a valid ID with you.

Also, remember that you applied to specific research topics within a curriculum: after the oral examination, you will be compared ONLY with other candidates who applied to the same topic.

How can I apply?

Administration of the National Doctorate in Robotics and Intelligent Machines is provided by the University of Genoa on behalf of all the participating research centers and universities.  Wherever you want to do your DRIM Ph.D. in Italy, your application will be processed through the University of Genoa system.

For your convenience, we summarize the necessary steps here below (a visual guide with detailed instructions is also available on the official webpage, in case you need it):

  • Prepare the documents you will need as PDF files (check details in Art.3 item 4): a) a valid identity document, b) a CV, c) the description of a research project that motivates your application using the template that you can download here, d) a file with information on your M.Sc. thesis and exams (degree transcript), and e) any other qualifications/publications relative to the research themes dealt with in the course.
  • Go to https://servizionline.unige.it/studenti/post-laurea
  • Click on “Dottorato.”
  • Click on “User Registration” and proceed to insert your data until you get a UID and password.
  • Go back to https://servizionline.unige.it/studenti/post-laurea/dottorato, click on “Application Form” and log in.
  • Provide all required info on your degree etc.
  • In the “Insert Doctorate Course” box, select: ROBOTICS AND INTELLIGENT MACHINES -DOTTORATO DI INTERESSE NAZIONALE
  • Select one of the curricula.
  • Indicate the references that you will exhibit (min 1, max 3). Please remember that the persons you choose as a reference must submit a letter through the following address before the deadline.
  • Indicate the preferred topics of research (up to three, prioritized).
  • Indicate any study grant or fellowship available to you.
  • Upload a) the valid identity document, b) the CV, c) the description of a research project that motivates your application, d) the file with information on your M.Sc. thesis and exams (degree transcript).
  • Upload any further qualifications or documents you believe are useful.
  • Accept conditions and finalize forms.

Please notice that if you want to apply to more than one curriculum (max 2), you should start a second application and select the new curriculum, research topic, etc.

A description of the research curricula, the specific research themes for each curriculum, and their association with a tutor and a primary host institution among the ones available for the first call of 2024/2025, can be found at the following links. We suggest that you try the whole procedure a few days before the deadline to make sure that you have everything you need or, if something is missing, realize it in time.

You can find additional rules and information about DRIM curricula, including the number of grants per curriculum, evaluation procedures, research themes, host institutions, and more, below.

Notice that the call for admission and its annexes indicate the research topics for which candidates can apply for a scholarship, the criteria for candidates’ eligibility and the evaluation of their Curriculum Vitae, and the interview methods. Furthermore, the call for admission and its annexes indicate the Host Institution where students will primarily carry out their study and research activity. In the case of industrial research grants or scholarships co-financed by a company, the corresponding research topic reports the company’s name, where students will partially carry out research.

The DRIM Ph.D. program allows each candidate to apply for at most two curricula. For each curriculum, candidates can select a maximum of three research topics.

The board will evaluate the applicants’ Curriculum Vitae, including their student career and qualified scientific and technical skills, a letter of motivation of the candidate, and the provided endorsement letters. Candidates are invited to an interview only if their evaluation score exceeds a minimum threshold. The interview consists of a discussion about the Curriculum Vitae and the research activity of interest to the candidate.

Candidates are ranked separately for each research theme to which they applied. Then, for each research topic, the research grants are assigned according to the ranking.

Information on the winners and how to register will be communicated at the end of the procedure.

 

How long does the Ph.D. course last?

The doctorate has a minimum duration of 36 months and a maximum duration of 54 months, according to the study plan presented by the students

 

How much is the scholarship?

The scholarship may vary depending on the research theme. Please check the descriptions for each theme. Ph.D. students will have a personal funding of € 3,300 per year for travel and research activities.
